Spending my Thursday morning in Panera Bread with a blueberry scone, some hazelnut coffee, and my two roomies makes it hard not to stumble upon an inspiring conversation. So of course, we found ourselves widely engaged in talking about love. And the first thing anyone reading this post, including myself, would think of significant other love. But no, we were talking about the universal idea of love- love to your mom, your sister, your dad, your brother, your best friend, your family, and yeah... you're significant other.
To me, there isn't a set definition for love. Every kind of love is different, between every person, it is different. The love between you and your mom is different from the love between you and your dad or your sibling and so on. I think that makes it sort of hard to give others advice on love, well because, you don't know exactly how they are feeling or how they are experiencing it. But as our conversation continued, I realized I do have one piece of advice regarding love. It comes from a lesson I learned about 2 years ago.
Everyone has flaws... that will never change nor should it change. A flaw is a good thing, it gives us a reason to work and push for something better. But when it comes to the people you love, you must work with care and awareness. My advice is: the people you love will never forget how you make them feel. You are the person whose job is to do anything but hurt them. Yes it happens. We are all only human and a mistake is something each and every one of us will make countless times in our lives. But something to remember is sorry is just a word, and a word can very easily lose it's meaning. Sorry can be said too many times where it is only heard and no longer felt. The scary thing is that although they are someone you love... they have the ability to walk away.
I'd like to leave you with the sole purpose of this post- It's Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 11:08 am and it is not too late to tell the people you love that you love them. And lastly, don't give them a reason to walk away.
